New Media, Rich Media & Interactive Media
New Media
According to Wikipedia, the definition of New Media is...
any form of traditional media such as film, images, music, spoken and written word, when combined with the interactive power of computer and communications technology, as used in computer-enabled consumer devices and most importantly the Internet.
Some of the many premises that relate to the term, hold out the possibility of on-demand access to content any time, anywhere, on any digital device, as well as interactive user feedback, creative participation and community formation around the media content.
Another important premise is the "democratization" of the creation, publishing, distribution and consumption of media content. What distinguishes new media from traditional media is the digitizing of content into bits. There is also a dynamic aspect of content production which can be done in real time.
The 3rd Party Media Alliance Group is primarily an Audio-Visual Communications firm that specializes in the production of New Media and Rich Media.
Rich Media
Any combination of graphics, audio, video and animation that presents information, is a form of Rich Media. These days, most of our media is digital, and also allows for active participation by the recipient. Thus, we refer to media like video, computer or online games that allow visual, acoustic, and haptic communication between the user (player or viewer) and the interface, as Interactive Media.
